Junice Anderson, of Milan, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at the Appleton Nursing Home in Appleton, MN at the age of 90.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 27, 2004 at 11:00AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, with the Rev. David DeMars officiating. Interment will be in Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Junice Marian Cornelia (Oddan) Anderson was born on November 17, 1913, on a farm near Big Bend, MN to Hans Lauritz and Ingeborg (Farden) Oddan. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church, attended rural school and Milan High School. On September 30,1934 she was united in marriage to Erling Anderson in Watson, MN. They lived in Milan and on farms in the area until 1952, when they moved back to town. Junice lived in Milan until 2002, when she moved to the Appleton Municipal Nursing Home. Junice was a cook for the Milan Public School for twenty-four years from 1952 - 1976. She was an active member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church, where she served on the altar guild, ladies aid, sang in the choir and many other activities. She was a founding member of the Jolly Jabbers Sewing Club in 1938, and was a member for more then 63 years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and was especially skilled in the art of hardanger. Over the years she made hundreds of pieces of hardanger which she gave as gifts to family and friends. She also liked to play cards, yahtzee, and serve coffee and dessert to anyone who stopped by for a visit. Her homemade doughnuts have been a specialty for years. She liked to travel and visited Norway in 1984 and made more than 25 trips to Arizona.
She is survived by a son, Monte Anderson and his wife Eveline of Eden Prairie, MN; a daughter, Ingrid Simonson and her husband Richard of Scottsdale, AZ; former daughter-in law, Dorothy Gustafson and her husband Wayne (who is also a special nephew of Junice’s) of Watson, MN; ten grandchildren: Joel Anderson, Steven Anderson, Bonita Braulick, Michele Amborn, Kevin Anderson, Karin Wicker, Michael Anderson, Eric Simonson, Robert Simonson, and Ronald Simonson; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Larson and her husband J. Vernon of Watson, MN; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Oddan of Dawson, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erling in 1984; a son, Kenneth in 1977; four sisters: Rose Larson, Lois Gustafson, Juella and Sylvia Oddan; and one brother, Orrin Oddan.
