Karen Christenson

Karen Christenson, 72, originally of Boyd, MN, passed away on January 19, 2025, at Meeker County Hospital in Litchfield, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd. Rev. Bob Knutson will officiate and interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the service.

Karen was born on April 11, 1952, in Clarkfield, MN, to Martin and Marjorie (Damman) Christenson. She grew up in Boyd and graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School in 1970. In July 1971, she married Randy Engelke, and together they made their home in Boyd, raising their son, Marty. Karen dedicated many years as the City Clerk of Boyd before moving to Litchfield in 2012 to be closer to her family.

Karen was a devoted mother and cherished supporting her son in all his school activities. She had a deep love for animals, enjoyed crocheting, watching old Western movies, and baking.

Karen is survived by her son, Marty Engelke, and his wife, Laure, of Litchfield; her beloved granddaughter, Alexis; her brother, Jerry Christenson of Lindstrom; half- sister, Wanda Nicks; niece, Janell (Craig) Gornik; and several other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Marjorie; her half-brothers, Galen, Roger, and Charles; and her half-sisters, Doris Zachow, and Mary Lou Christenson

Karen’s family and friends will deeply miss her warm heart and kind spirit.
