Karen Deason, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, November15, 2011 at her home in Montevideo at the age of 71. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo. Rev. Gwen Bohlke will officiate and burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Karen Elsialien (Solberg) Deason was born February 21, 1940 at Montevideo, MN the daughter of George and Elsialien (Everson) Solberg. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo in 1953. Karen graduated from Montevideo High School in 1958. She was united in marriage with Richard Deason. Karen graduated from Ridgewater College as an LPN in 1994 and as an RN in 1997. She worked at the nursing home in Clara City and Madison before working as an RN at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo until retiring in 2008. She enjoyed reading, birds, flowers, and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by two children: David Deason of Montevideo, MN and Andrea (Doug) DeJong of Boyd, MN; two grandchildren: Kristin and Shane DeJong; one brother, Richard (Janice) Solberg of Brooklyn Park, MN; a niece, Kim (Gary) Solberg-Johnson; a nephew, Mark (Cindy) Solberg and many special cousins and relatives. Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Nick (George) Solberg.
