Karl Kalm, of Olivia, formerly of Montevideo, died on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Abbott- Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 82.
Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Byron Perrine officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Karl Kenneth Kalm was born on July 23, 1923 in Moose Lake, MN to Seymour and Martha Kalm. He grew up in Moose Lake and graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1941. He attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. On June 18, 1943 he was united in marriage to Cassel Rehling in Minneapolis, MN. The lived in Fargo, ND for 2 years before moving to Montevideo, where he lived until moving to Olivia, MN in 1980. He opened and ran Karl’s Tire Service in Montevideo and managed the Goodyear Store in Montevideo and later in Olivia before retiring. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, sports - especially listening to Twins games, walking his dog, yard work, traveling, and especially being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Cassel; a son: Kent Kalm and his wife Wendy of Mankato, MN; 3 grandchildren: Melissa Banse and her husband Troy of Mankato, MN; Julie Kalm of Minnetonka, MN and Jeremy Kalm and his wife Jessy of Mankato, MN; 2 great-grandchildren: Grace Banse and Caleb Kalm; a brother, Owen Kalm of Cloquet, MN as well as by several nieces and nephews.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents; 2 children: Pamela Kalm in 1957, and Scott Kalm in 1965 and by 2 brothers, Walter and Claude Kalm.
