Karl Wiegers died Friday, May 14, 2004 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 89.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Dennis Drews will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M.
Karl Leo Wiegers was born August 13, 1914 at Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, MN the son of Bennie and Ottilie (Bittler) Wiegers. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. He attended school in District 44 and parochial school until the 8th grade. Karl was united in marriage with Della Marquardt on December 23, 1937 at Canby, MN. They lived in Granite Falls where he worked at a grocery store and creamery before moving to the home farm near Boyd in 1947. They farmed there until 1970 when they moved to Minneapolis. He worked for Tel-E-Lect until 1980 and then for Safe Way Hydraulics. They moved to Parkview Towers in Montevideo in 2003. Karl loved gardening and raising flowers.
He is survived by his wife, Della; four children: Beverly Loose of Clarkfield, MN, Stanley Wiegers and his wife Lois of Plymouth, MN, Donna Olson and her husband Dennis of Watson, MN, and Betty Westre and her husband Chris of Rogers, MN; six grandchildren: Karla Walters, Elaine (Joe) Coubal, James (Tammy) Loose, Amy (Jim) Schlader, Kim Olson, and Ryan Westre; eleven great-grandchildren: Nate Schlader, Steven Coubal, Alisha (Jeremy) Banken, Andy Coubal, Joey Coubal, Kristle Walters, Kelly Walters, Dayna Walters, Kjersti Loose, Brittney Loose, and Samarah Loose; one brother, Arnold Wiegers of Dawson, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five sisters: Emma Wiese, Emily Riediger, Elsie Witt, Anna Hveem, and Lilly Lindblad; three brothers: Bill Wiegers, Bennie Wiegers, and Adolph Wiegers; one son-in-law, Arlen Loose; and one grandson-in-law, Steven Walters.
