Katherine Gilbertson

Katherine Gilbertson, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Burns Nursing Home in Hutchinson at the age of 85.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. at  Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating.  Interment will be in the Mandt Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Katherine Gilbertson was born on June 20, 1919 in Mandt Township of Chippewa County, MN to Joseph and Claudine (Olson) Gilbertson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Mandt Lutheran Church, attended rural school in District #31 and graduated from Montevideo High School.  She worked at the AA office in Montevideo, Hasty Tasty Restaurant in Minneapolis, Northwest Modification in St. Paul and for almost 30 years worked as a reservationist with Braniff airlines and later for Monte Travel. She was a life-long member of Mandt Lutheran Church and held several offices in its Sunday School, Luther League, Ladies Aid and Church Council.  She enjoyed traveling and had traveled extensively throughout the world and also enjoyed music and photography.  She later took care of her parents so they could live out their lives at their home.

She is survived by a brother, Reuben Gilbertson and his wife June of Buckeye, AZ; a sister, Inez Neiger of Hutchinson; two brothers-in-law: Ray Opseth of Duluth, MN and Delos Schuldt of Tucson, AZ; 11 nieces and nephews and a number of great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: three sisters: Pearl Opseth, Alice Schuldt and an infant sister Pearl; a niece, Bobbi Jo (Gilbertson)Williams; a nephew, Brad Schuldt; and by a brother-in-law, Nick Neiger.
