Kathryn (Oman) Wallem

Kathryn Wallem of Dawson died Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 101.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Pastor Kendall Stelter will officiate and burial will be in the Dawson Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Kathryn Lois Oman was born to Louis and Tilda (Larson) Oman in Maxwell Township, MN on January 11, 1921.  She attended country school in District 72 until 8th grade and attended Dawson High School, graduating in 1939.  After high school she worked at a variety of jobs including two years as secretary to the school superintendent.  On July 3, 1943 she was united in marriage to Orville Wallem in the parsonage of the Riverside Lutheran Church.

After her marriage she was a farm wife, cooking many good meals for her family and company.  Kathryn and Orville were the parents of three children, Elwood who lives at home in Dawson, Keith (Lorna Gustafson) of Tacoma, WA, and Lois (Thomas) Taggart of Earlham, IA.  Kathryn has one granddaughter Kathryn Wallem and her husband, Jeff Sisson of New York City, NY and their son Harold.

Kathryn was baptized in the Providence Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Dawson Covenant Church.  Later she joined Riverside Church which is now Grace Lutheran Church.

Kathryn is survived by her three children; brother, Roger (Jane); sister-in-law, Michele Oman; granddaughter, Kathryn Wallem (Jeff Sisson) and their son Harold.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Tilda Oman; husband, Orville; and brothers, Phillip Oman and Bob (Angela) Oman.
