Katie W. Pitt died Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 79.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Ronald Hobbie officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services on Saturday.
Katie Wilhelmiena (Petersen) Pitt was born on April 20, 1936 in Rheiderland Township to Ralph and Sadie (Hoogheem) Petersen. She attended school in Clara City and graduated in 1954. Katie worked at Craguns Resort and Clara City Bakery before she got married. On October 22, 1960 she married Marvin Pitt at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They had two children together. Katie continued to work at Swift and Company, F&H Bakery, MTI, Red Owl and County Market until her retirement in 2007.
Katie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was active in a circle at the church. She enjoyed baking, cross stitch, crocheting, and playing cards. Katie was also a life long member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Katie is survived by her husband, Marvin; her daughter Karen (Chad) Knutson of Waconia, MN; two grandchildren, Jordon and Trenton; two sisters, Marion Mahlum of Sacred Heart, MN and Jeanette Giinthir of Raymond, MN; one brother, Kenneth R. (Sarah) Petersen of Roseland, MN; and many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great -nephews.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Pitt in 1999; and one brother, Fred Petersen.
