Ken Jerve

Ken Jerve died Monday, January 31, 2022 at his home in rural Montevideo at the age of 74.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Marie Eckberg will officiate and interment will be at Jevnaker Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5-7:00 PM at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.  There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before the service.

Kenneth Melvin Jerve was born on January 7, 1948 to Melvin and Evelyn (Jolstad) Jerve at the Chippewa County Hospital in Montevideo.  He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church.  Kenneth was raised on the family farm and attended school in Montevideo.  Following his graduation from Montevideo High School he attended Granite Falls Vo Tech School for Mechanical Design.  He worked in the Twin Cities area as a Printed Circuit Board Designer from 1968 to 1980.  He met Cynthia Lee Ekvall during this time, at work and they were married on May 20, 1972 in Wyoming, MN.  In 1980 Kenneth and Cynthia moved to Montevideo and purchased a farm a mile from where he grew up and began farming corn and soybeans until retirement in 2016.  Kenneth served in the Army National Guard for six years.

Kenneth was active with the Mandt Township Board and various boards at Jevnaker Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing and spending time with grandchildren. One of his favorite things to do was making lefse with Cindy.   Family and friends will  remember Kenneth’s very quick wit and sense of humor.

Kenneth is survived by his son, Brian Jerve, Burnsville, MN; daughter, Jill (Preston) Forsberg, Fargo, ND; four grandchildren: Mason, Logan, Reese and Landon Forsberg, Fargo, ND; sister, Deb (Jon) Backlund, Fargo, ND as well as many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cynthia in 2012 and his in-laws, Eugene and Hazel Ekvall.
