Kenneth Billings, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, March 17, 2002 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN at the age of 81. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 22, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Kenneth Milton Billings was born on April 26, 1921 in Roseau, MN to John and Catherine (Christianson) Billings. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He attended schools in Montevideo, but because of his father’s illness, he had to quit school to work on the family farm. On March 16, 1957 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Bothun at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They lived in Minneapolis for 12 years, moving back to Montevideo in 1968. He was employed for many years at Western Cooperative Transport of Montevideo as a mechanic before retiring. In retirement his greatest joys were his five grandchildren. He was a long-time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by two sons: Rev. Kurt Billings and his wife Lori of Madison, WI and Rick Billings of St. Cloud, MN; five grandchildren: Andrew, Emily, Joshua, Jessica and Jacob Billings; a brother, James Billings of Montevideo, MN; a sister, Florence of Fridley, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Phyllis in 1994.
