Kenneth Luverne Strand

Kenneth Strand, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, February 6, 2000 at his home at the age of 73.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 11, 2000 at 10:30 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Douglas Olson officiating.  Burial will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo as well as for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Kenneth Lu Verne Strand was born on June 27, 1926 in Milbank, South Dakota to Christian and Hilda (Lyngen) Strand.  He was baptized in Milbank in 1926 and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  He attended Montevideo Public Schools.  He served in the US Navy in the Pacific during WWII.  On November 30, 1950 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Hanson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  He worked as a dry cleaner and owned the Valet Cleaners in Montevideo for a number of years.  He was the custodian at Our Savior's Lutheran Church before retiring.  He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, and belonged to the American Legion and the VFW.   He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, watching game shows, going to the lake and was a Vikings fan.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; one daughter, Patricia Jacobsen of Willmar, MN; two sons: Kevin Strand of Montevideo and Keith Strand and his wife Sue of Boyd, MN; seven grandchildren: Kara Jacobsen, Ryan Pederson, Maigan, Shane and Robertt Lemke and Ashley and Lexcy Strand; one brother, Donald Strand of Fayetteville, NC; three sisters: Ethel Eisenlohr and her husband Harold of Willmar, MN, Janet Eisenlohr and her husband Herbert of Montevideo, MN, and Florence Erickson and her husband Algean of Montevideo, MN; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Larry Kenneth; one granddaughter, Kaelyn Jacobsen; and two brothers: Howard and Gordon Strand.
