Kenneth Stringer died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 86.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 1:30 P.M. at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson. Pastor Allen Lonnquist will officiate and burial will be at Dawson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held for one hour before the service.
Kenneth Merle Stringer was born December 16, 1918 at Bowling Green, KY the son of Garland and Ruth (Huffines) Stringer. He attended school in Franklin, KY and graduated from High School there. Ken served in the US Army Air Force from 1941-45. He was baptized and confirmed in Tujunga, CA in 1946. Ken was united in marriage with Muriel Kotschevar February 15, 1945 at Greenbush, MN. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1951 and worked for a drug store in Grand Forks, ND before moving to Dawson in 1958. They bought Hovland Drug and operated Stringer Drug until retiring in 1980. After retirement, Ken worked as a relief pharmacist for Oftedahl Drug in Madison until he was almost 80. He loved to travel and also enjoyed gardening and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel; two children: Kari Stringer of Eden Prairie, MN and Kimberly Zernechel and her husband Greg of Andover, MN; two grandchildren: Sara (Steven) Clayton of Shelburne, VT and Noah Zernechel; two great-grandchildren: Mandy and Michael; and two sisters: Betty (Walter) McLane of Larkspur, CO and Carolyn Gore of Boise, ID.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two daughters: Kathy Devost and Kristy Stringer; and one brother-in-law, William Gore.
