Kenneth “Ken” Sundlee, of Montevideo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in  Montevideo at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.  There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before the service on Thursday.

Ken was born on May 28, 1930 in Montevideo to Sigurd and Esther (Haugen) Sundlee.  He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1948.  He worked as an auto mechanic at Jahn's Garage from 1948-52 and married Delores “Dee” Thompson June 7, 1951.  Ken honorably served on active duty in the Army of the United State from 1952-1954.  He returned from his service and farmed for most of his life.  He also worked for Northern States Power Company for 25 years.

Ken was an avid fan of his children’s sporting events and never missed a basketball, football, or baseball game.  He initiated the Floyd Arnold Award Program at Montevideo High School which  continues today.  He enjoyed fishing when there was time to get away from the chores on the farm.  Ken was an active member of both the VFW 380 and American Legion 59.

Ken is survived by his wife, Dee Sundlee, Montevideo, children: Kim (Carol) Sundlee, Montevideo, Kip (Marsha Franzen) Sundlee, Alexandria and Ketra (Paul) Sundlee Gardner of Elko, Nevada; grandchildren: Jennifer, Matthew, Marnie, Cameron, Emily, Lauren, and William; great-grandchildren: Leyla, Lillie, Heather, Brayson, and Liam; siblings: Orlin Sundlee, Dennis (LaVonne) Sundlee, Loren( Debbie) Sundlee, MaryAnn (Gordon) Jaenisch, and Sharon Olson; and sister-in-law, Shirley Sundlee; as well as other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sigurd and Esther: a brother, Merrill Sundlee; sister-in-law, Verna Sundlee; and brother-in-law, Rollie Olson as well as other extended family.
