Kermit H. Lien

Kermit Lien, of Maynard, died on Saturday October 26, 1996 at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 78.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday October 29 at 11:00 AM at the Maynard Lutheran Church in Maynard with Rev. Mary Boyd Hovland officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Kermit H. Lien was born on June 2, 1918 in Wang Township of Renville Co., MN to George and Sophie ( Holien) Lien.  He was baptized and confirmed at Wang Lutheran Church of rural Maynard, MN.  He attended grade school at District #44 and graduated from Maynard High School in 1937.  For several years he worked with townships as a gravel trucker and worked at the shipyards in Seattle, WA during WWII.  In the mid 1950's he started Lien Realty in his home in Maynard, and for 30 years was involved in the business, mostly making farm sales.  On June 30, 1963 he was united in marriage to Berdella Sheggeby in the Rock Valley Lutheran Church of rural Echo, MN.  He was an active member of the Maynard Lutheran Church and was a member of the Maynard Lions Club until this past year.

He is survived by his wife - Berdella; by a sister - Selma Shager of Tacoma, WA; a brother - George Lien of Maynard, MN; 4 nephews and 9 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents,  brothers - Elmer, Bernard and Ernest Lien; and by sisters - Mabel Steen and Esther Fletcher.
