Laila Theressa (Stenevik) Emblem

Laila Emblem, formerly of Clarkfield, died on Friday, March 6, 1998 at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 78.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 10, 1998 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Douglas Olson and Rev Warren Broughton officiating.  Burial will be in the Clarkfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Laila Theressa (Stenevik) Emblem was born on June 11, 1919 in Fergus Falls, MN to Lars and Tilda (Thompson) Stenevik. She was baptized on July 13, 1919 near Fergus Falls and moved to the Clarkfield, MN area as a young child.  She grew up in the Clarkfield area, was confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1937.  She was united in marriage to Alfred Emblem on August 30, 1946 at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church.  She lived most of her life in the Clarkfield area and had moved to Atwater, MN to live with her daughter several months ago.  She had been a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Israel Lutheran Church and currently was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She was a Sunday School teacher at both Clarkfield Lutheran and Israel Lutheran Churches.

Laila is survived by a daughter - Wanda Aasen of Atwater, MN; a grandson - Chris Aasen of Montevideo, MN; a sister - Amelia Stensrud of Bloomington, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband - Alfred in 1985, and sisters - June Stenevik and Elaine Payne.
