LaMar Lokken, of rural Montevideo, died on Monday March 13, 1995 at the Chippewa Co.- Montevideo Hospital at the age of 65. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday March 16, 1995 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Wayne Mensing officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
LaMar Harlan Lokken was born on April 4, 1929 in Lac Qui Parle Township of Lac Qui Parle Co., Minnesota to Albert and Esther (Olson) Lokken. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and attended Milan schools. He served in the US Navy for 4 years. On April 3, 1954 he was united in marriage to LaVonne Erickson in Boyd, Minnesota. He lived his entire lifetime on the family farm in Lac Qui Parle Township. He worked as a driver on road construction for many years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter, the VFW Post in Montevideo, the American Legion Post in Madison, and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his wife - LaVonne; by his children - Lynn Lokken and her husband Paul Dorweiler of Montevideo; Bradley Lokken and his wife Susan of Dawson,MN; David Lokken and his wife Kimberly of Young America, MN; and Amy Lokken of Phoenix, AZ; and by grandchildren Kiri and Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother in infancy.
