Larry Schacherer, of Dawson, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 67. Visitation will be at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson on Monday, November 22 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Larry Edward Schacherer was born October 8, 1943 at Dawson, MN the son of Herbert and Emmy (Lideen) Schacherer. He was baptized and attended school in Dawson. Larry was united in marriage with Darlene Arneson April 10, 1968 at Watertown, SD. They made their home in Madison before moving to Dawson in 1969. He worked at AGP as a bean grader for 37 years before retiring in 2005. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, gardening, and working around the yard. He also enjoyed helping at the farm with his son-in-law and listening to polka music. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; three children: Melissa (and Gerald) Schueller, Scott (and Bobbi Jo) Schacherer, and Pamela (and Dean) Martinson all of Dawson; seven grandchildren: Amanda, Justin, and Kristin Schueller, Paige, Grant and Regan Martinson, and Holland Schacherer; his mother-in-law, Gudrun Arneson of Madison; two brothers: John (Jeannie) Schacherer of Rochester, MN and Michael Schacherer of Dawson; six sisters: Ruth VanNurden of Montevideo, Sharon Miller of Manntowac, WI, Helen (Jack) Dotas of Lebanon, IN, Sonia Howard of Mitchell, SD, Bonita Noragon of Lincoln, NE, and Linda (Swede) Arndt of Herman, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Herbert and Emmy; his father-in-law, Manford Arneson; a baby brother, Ronald; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Schacherer.
