Larry Raymond Ziemann

Larry Ziemann, of Milan, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at his home in Milan at the age of 77.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  Rev. Tom Opoien will officiate and interment will be at Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-7:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 6:30 P.M.

Larry Raymond Ziemann was born January 23, 1929 in Cameron Township, Murray County, MN the son of William and Christena (Reese) Ziemann.  He was baptized July 7, 1929 and confirmed  December 12, 1943 at Lake Wilson Lutheran Church.  He attended Lake Wilson High School.  Larry served in the US Navy Seabees and was stationed in San Diego, Guam, Japan, and Korea.  As a Seabee he helped build mess halls, barracks and hospitals.  He was united in marriage with Mary Ellen Claussen August 26, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN.  They lived in Slayton and Lake Wilson before moving to Milan in 1963.  He worked as a carpenter.  Larry was a member of the Lac qui Parle Lake Association, Milan Rod & Gun Club, and American Legion Post #359 of Milan.  He loved fishing and often took his grandkids along.  He enjoyed hunting, built beautiful recurve bows, and was Minnesota State Archery Association overall champion in 1962.  Larry cut hundreds of Elm trees and could drop a tree on a dime.  He also enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and visiting with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four children: Wendy Botello and her husband Jorge of Uvalde, TX, Cindy Madden and her husband Steve of Arvada, CO, Ted Ziemann of Milan, MN, and Nancy Mervine of St. Cloud, FL; five grandchildren: Alyssa Dunlap and her husband Doug, Josh Lee, Steven Mervine and his fiance Jatianna Cintron, Eric Ziemann, Juliana Botello; one great-grandchild, Aja Claire Ziemann; one brother, Arnold (Jean) Ziemann of Lake Wilson, MN; and one sister, Amanda (Duane) Timmerman of Lake Wilson, MN.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
