Laverne Ann (Ost) Collins

St. Louis Park, MN

LaVerne Collins, formerly of Montevideo, died on Monday, July 17, 2006 in St. Louis Park, MN at the age of 79.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 21, 2006 at 2:00 PM at St John’s Lutheran Church of rural Montevideo with Pastor Ronald Hobbie officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

LaVerne Ann (Ost) Collins was born on December 7, 1926 in Montevideo, MN to Fred and Ruby (Gayken) Ost.  She was baptized on December 19, 1926 and confirmed on April 4, 1941 at St. Johns Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. On January 13, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert Collins at the St. John’s Lutheran parsonage. They lived in Montevideo for many years before she moved to St. Louis Park, MN in 1991.  She was a lifelong member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and had been a member of the VFW Auxiliary.  She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren, liked to make friends and loved flowers and nature. She was currently a resident of the Texas Terrace Care Center in St. Louis Park.

She is survived by children: Richard Collins and his wife Jolene of Eagan, MN; Linda Moorse and her husband Mike of Minneota, MN and Rochelle Coleman and her husband Roy of Dallas, TX; 5 grandchildren: Michael Collins and his wife Lisa; Jennifer Ibrahim and her husband Joe; Joshua Lundy and his fiancé Danielle Bothun; Sarah Schrapp and her husband Nick and Elizabeth Coleman; 5 great grandchildren: Bennett Lundy, Tucker and Cooper Schrapp; Nick Ibrahim and Elleana Collins; a sister, Charlotte Englund and her husband Paul of Minnetonka, MN, a niece and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 1988, an infant daughter Lenore and by a nephew, Matthew Englund.
