Lavon Charlotte (Johnson) Bang

LaVon Bang, 73, of Maynard, died March 15, 1997 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 1997 at 11:00 A.M. at Maynard Lutheran Church.  Rev. Mary Boyd Hovland will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.  There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before services on Wednesday.

LaVon Charlotte Johnson was born October 9, 1923 at Montevideo, MN the daughter of William and Edna (Peterson) Johnson.  She attended country and Maynard schools.  LaVon was united in marriage with Douglas Bang, Sr. December 16, 1939 in Chippewa County.  They farmed in Chippewa County until 1958 when the moved to Willmar.  She worked for Gambles, Tempo, and Hogans while they lived for 15 years in Willmar before moving to Maynard.  LaVon has worked at the Senior Meal Site and was currently working at the City Clerk's Office in Maynard.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Altar Guild, WELCA, and was a Sunday School Teacher at Maynard Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Dokken of Fairbanks, AK; two sons: Robert Bang and his wife Marlene of Murdock, MN and Douglas Bang, Jr. and his wife Audrey of Maynard, MN; six grandchildren: Kimberly and her husband Steve Mitlyng, Kevin Dokken, Joey Dawn Bang, Jennifer Bang, Darrin Bang, and Diana Bang; two great-grandchildren: Klaire and Joseph Mitlyng; two sisters: Phyllis Levitz of Maynard, MN and Delores Hill and her husband Ken of Montevideo, MN; three brothers: William L. Johnson and his wife Mary of Maynard, MN, Robert Johnson of Benson, MN, and Donald Johnson and his wife Carol of Loveland, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Douglas, February 7, 1984; and two sisters: Thelma Johnson and Arlene Fransen.
