Lawrence Miller

Lawrence Miller, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 88. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Kathy Skoglund officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of funeral arrangements. Lawrence Arnell Miller was born on February 17, 1921 in Maxwell Township of Lac qui Parle Co., MN to John and Minnie (Landerdahl) Miller. He grew up in Maxwell Township and attended rural schools. He served in the U. S. Army's 5th Infantry and 21st Artillery in 1945 and 1946, serving in France and Germany. After his tour of duty he returned to rural Dawson, where he farmed for 35 years before retiring in 1981. During retirement he enjoyed doing woodworking, doing crafts and spending time by the lake near Alexandria. In 1960 he was united in marriage to Ethel Akre, who died in April of 1980. On March 19, 1983 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Thompson. They lived in Boyd, MN and Montevideo, MN before she died on May 26, 1999. On February 8, 2003 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Slettedahl. On February 19, 2003 Lawrence suffered a stroke and has been a resident of Luther Haven since that time. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine and her family; a sister-in-law, Velaris Miller of XXXXXXX, MN as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Ethel and Charlotte; a sister, Violet Miller; by two brothers, Wallace and Glenn Miller and by a sister-in-law, Marlys Miller.
