Layton "Tony" Albrecht

Layton “Tony” Albrecht, Montevideo died on Monday February 4, 2019 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 69.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February, 9, 2019 at 10:30 am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Layton Arthur Albrecht was born in Montevideo on October 30, 1949 to C.A. “Bud” and Ardyce (Bremseth) Albrecht.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  He attended Montevideo schools and graduated in 1968.  Following high school he attended St. Cloud State University.  Layton enrolled at Minnesota West in Granite Falls in the Robotics program and graduated in 1985.  He married Jane Berge in 1970, they had four children and made their home in Montevideo.  In 2007, Layton retired to a cabin in the Brainerd lakes area where he lived until recently.

Layton worked at Albrecht Cabinet and Fixtures and in the taxidermy business for a period of time.  He also worked at MTI for over 20 years.  In his spare time Layton enjoyed fishing, woodworking, deer hunting, golfing and antique shopping.  By far his greatest love was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Layton is survived by his children: Michele (Adam) Albright, Brainerd, MN, Jennifer (John) Zurn, Omaha, NE, Angela (Brandon) Torgerson, Warba, MN, Dan (Darcy) Albrecht, Montevideo; eight grandchildren: Andrew Albright, Joshua Albright, Colin Zurn, Paris Zurn, Samuel Torgerson, Noah Torgerson, Avery Albrecht, Isaac Albrecht and 2 foster grandchildren; siblings: John Albrecht, Tom (Leanna) Albrecht, Priscilla Reineke, Warren (Annette) Albrecht, Emily Evenson; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents: C.A. “Bud” and Ardyce Albrecht; siblings: Carl Albrecht  and Avonelle Johnson; sister-in-law: Sandy Albrecht; brother-in-law, Tom Reineke; and nephew, Adam Albrecht.
