Leland Nicholas Cobb

Leland Cobb, of rural Maynard, died on Saturday, January 19, 2002 in Cedar Rapids, IA at the age of 76.  Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Ronald Hobbie officiating.  Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of Havelock. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Leland Nicholas Cobb was born on March 27, 1925 in Maynard, MN to William and Anna (Tischer) Cobb.  He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.  He attended Maynard Public Schools and graduated from Maynard High School in 1943.  He served in the US Air Force during WW II.  Following his discharge he attended Macalester College in St. Paul.  On October 15, 1949 he was united in marriage to Lorna Macziewski at Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock.  He farmed for several years and then worked for the NFO. He also worked as a carpenter for several years, and as a purchaser for VSC in Clara City and later worked for Cargill in Gluek before retiring in 1987.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock and of American Legion Post #252  of Maynard.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna; three children: Karen Mackenzie and her husband Dan of Lino Lakes, MN, Craig Cobb and his wife Janna of Watertown, SD and Douglas Cobb and his wife Joyce of Cedar Rapids, IA; 12 grandchildren: Courtney and Kari Guertin, Andrew, Angela Mindy and Deanna Mackenzie, Brandon, Sammantha, Andrew and Jared Cobb, and Nicholas and Emily Cobb; two sisters: Izetta Hunter and her husband Ralph of Cranston, RI and Joyce Kissler and her husband Jack of Gig Harbor, WA; three sisters-in-law: Adela Cobb of Maynard, MN, Charlotte Cobb of Fairmont, MN and Judy Cobb of Eagan, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Harold, Howard and Willis Cobb; one sister, Lois Tucker; and one brother-in-law, Dan Tucker.
