Leland Kittelson, of Montevideo, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 84. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo. Rev. Marie Eckberg will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-7:00 PM and a prayer service at 5:00 PM Leland Curtis Kittelson was born August 21, 1925 at Montevideo, MN the son of Willie and Della (Christianson) Kittelson. He was baptized September 20, 1925 and confirmed June 4, 1939 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. He was united in marriage with Marjorie Hildahl on December 17, 1949, at the Kittelson home farm. They lived and farmed in rural Montevideo, where he was an active member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Minnesota Valley Antique Farm Power and Machinery Association and the Sons of Norway. Over the years, he enjoyed farming, metal work, wood work, snowmobiling, fishing, pheasant hunting, but most of all playing with the grandkids. He also enjoyed visiting, especially in Norwegian. He is survived by four children: Lee Kittelson and his wife Karen of Fergus Falls, MN, Steve Kittelson and his wife Lisa Lindberg of Amboy, MN, Mike Kittelson and his wife Charlene of Yankton, SD and Laurie Kittelson of Stillwater, MN; five grandchildren: Brian Kittelson, Mark (and Alyssia) Kittelson, Liv (and Craig) Emery, Erik Kittelson and Kjersti (and Andreas) Boe; one great-granddaughter, Marilla Emery; four sisters: Deloris Pederson of Kalamazoo, MI, Leona Skogrand of Montevideo, MN, Grace Christenson and Gloria Christenson both of Benson, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife, Marjorie in 2005.
