Leland Winge, of Montevideo and formerly of Dawson, died on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Clara City Care Center in Clara City, at the age of 79 . Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening with the family present from 4 - 6 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Leland Henry Winge was born on January 13, 1932 in Dawson, MN, to Peter and Nettie (Lee) Winge. He was baptized and confirmed at Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson He attended and graduated from Dawson High School in 1950. He served in the National Guard and served actively in the US Army. On March 27, 1961 he was united in marriage to Judith Skonard at the Watson Lutheran Church. He worked as a banker at Union State Bank, Northwestern State Bank and Norwest Bank in Montevideo and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking during his 25 years there. He spent over ten years operating the Watson State Bank and Watson Insurance Agency before he retired from banking to be a full time fisherman. Leland was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was church treasurer. He was a Shriner and a Mason, a member of the American Legion, Watson Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, on the Board of Directors of the Hospital and was the Fiesta Chairman in 1970. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He liked to golf and watch golf, dance and spend time at his cabin on Lake Miltona. Leland was a good friend to his customers, a generous person and very focused on his family and their lives. Leland is survived by his wife, Judy; three children: Robert Winge and his wife Laura and their children Evan and Lucas of Maple Grove, MN; Eric Winge and his wife Mary Jo and their children Hannah, Nathan and Grace of Fargo, ND and Amy Tucci and her husband Tom and their children Abigail and Joseph of Savage, MN; a sister, Shirley Thompson of Montevideo and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Keith, Phillip and a twin brother, Lyle.
