Leon Eggers died Friday, October 1, 2004 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 82.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. David Baumgarn will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 6-7:00 P.M.

Leon Harland Eggers was born March 9, 1922 in Grace Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of William and Olga (Bye) Eggers.  He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1940 and later attended watchmaking and engraving school in Kansas City.  He served in the US Army Air Force during WW II.  Leon was united in marriage with Dorothy Wilking August 30, 1948 in Montevideo.  He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church February 2, 1961.  Leon worked for the US Post office for 33 years and retired in the early 1980's.  He was a member of the VFW and the DAV.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and the lake cabin that he built.  His greatest pleasure was being with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; seven children: Bob Eggers, Bill Eggers and his wife Jackie, Tim Eggers, Tom Eggers, Carmen Ostenson and her husband Lanny all of Montevideo, MN, Susan Doose and her husband Greg of Granite Falls, MN, and Karen Simonton of Coon Rapids, MN; 16 grandchildren: Nathan (Melissa) Doose, Chad Doose, Laura (Aaron) Makki, Matthew (R.J.) Golden, Danielle (Jerry) Tanski, Kirsten Golden, Michael Golden, Heidi (Tony) Tydlacka, Brianne Eggers, Todd (Ronda) Ostenson, Angela (James) Backer, Tanya (Ty) Cobb, Shawn Ostenson, Kate Eggers, Cassie Simonton, and Karissa Simonton; many great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Joan (Bud) Kubesh of Colville, WA, and Lorna Canyers of St. Paul, MN.

Preceding him death were his parents; one daughter, Catherine Golden; and one brother, Mansfield Eggers.
