Leon Lange, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 75. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with the Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5- 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 6:45 P.M., all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Leon Delroy Lange was born on April 22, 1934 in Montevideo, MN to John and Alma (Brust) Lange. He was baptized and confirmed at Rosewood Methodist Church. He attended grade school at District # 24 of Rosewood Township and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1952. In June of 1955 he volunteered for the United States Army, serving until honorably discharged in June of 1957. On August 3, 1958 he was united in marriage to Carol Holtkamp at the Montevideo Methodist Church. He farmed all his life in Rosewood Township, loving the outdoors and watching the crops grow and mature. He also loved seeing the birth of baby pigs and calves. He was a lifelong member of the Rosewood Methodist and United Methodist Church of Montevideo, serving on various church boards and was a youth leader. He was a member of the American Legion Post #59 and served many years on the Rosewood Township Board. He loved fishing and hunting, especially with his sons and grandsons. Leon loved to snowmobile with family, friends and neighbors. He especially enjoyed having coffee with family and friends the past 8 � years when he was homebound in a wheelchair. He loved to make people laugh. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, loving them very much. He always told them how much he loved them and they would always return with their love. He is survived by his wife Carol; three children: Richard (and Karen) Lange of Kerkhoven, MN Ronald (and Julie ) Lange of Monticello, MN and Susanne (and Kim) Edwards of Buffalo, MN; six grandchildren: Miriah and Cory Nellermoe, Breanne and Alec Lange, and Kristin and Kincaid Edwards; three sisters: Arleen (and Floyd) Zempel and Geraldine Sulflow, both of Montevideo and Gertrude Bonin of St. Paul, MN; a brother, Arnold (and Loretta) Lange of Montevideo; a mother-in-law, Violet Holtkamp of Kerkhoven, MN; a sister-in law, Ione Lange of Morris, MN as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Elmer, George, Earl, and Wesley; and by a nephew, Morris Lange.
