Leona Coryell, of Montevideo, died in Friday October 7, 1994 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 90. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday October 11, 1994 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Montevideo with Fr. Jerry Paulson the Celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 6-8 P.M. with a prayer vigil at 7:00 P.M. at St. Josephs Catholic Church. The Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of arrangements.
Leona Frances (Gorman) Coryell was born on October 24, 1903 in Havelock Township of Chippewa Co. to Otto and Lydia Gorman and was the oldest of 13 children. On January 28, 1930 she was united in marriage to William Coryell in Clara City,Mn. They farmed for the next 40 years in Baxter Township of Lac Qui Parle Co., Minnesota, until 1971 when they moved to Montevideo. She has been a resident of the Luther HAven Nursing Home for the past 4 years. She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Dawson, Minnesota for many years and was currently a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Montevideo.
She is survived by sons - Roger and his wife Gerry of Minneapolis,Mn.; and Richard and his wife Marilyn of Indianapolis, In.; by a daughter - Mary Hunter of Minneapolis,Mn.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; by sisters - Mildred Nelson of Michigan; Ora Hubel of Maynard, Mn.; Phyllis Carpenter and Lois Bissonnette of Minneapolis; Cleo Thompson,Grace Gorman, and Mary Ann Manion of Oregon; and Patricia Huck of Washington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She wwas preceded in death by her parents; by her husband William in 1975; by brothers - Clifton and Willard Gorman; and by sisters - Vera Gorman and Jeanette Collins.
