Leona Erickson, 66, of Watson, died Tuesday, December 25, 2001 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Leona Mae (Streich) Erickson was born August 21, 1935 at Sleepy Eye, MN the daughter of Norman and Lillian (Smit) Streich. She graduated from Bellingham High School and received secretarial training at Granite Vo-Tech in Granite Falls. She was united in marriage with Richard Erickson November 1, 1958 at Appleton, MN. They made their home at Watson, MN. Leona worked as a CNA at the Appleton Nursing Home. Leona was diagnosed with MS in March of 2000. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, St. Paul Lutheran Church, and MS Support Group (Society). She enjoyed ceramics, knitting and crochet, as well as painting. Leona enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by six children: Gene and Lois Streich of Stockton, MN, Roger Erickson of Dawson, MN, Sandy Johnson of Montevideo, MN, Rick Erickson of Cold Spring, MN, Roy Erickson of Montevideo, MN, and Shirley Erickson of Watson, MN; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers: Daniel Streich of Amery, WI and Alvin Streich of Circle Pines, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Richard; one brother, Gary Streich; one sister, Delores Milbrandt; and one son-in-law, Jeff Johnson.
