Leona Clara (Charlet) Knoshal

Leona Knoshal, 89, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at the Clara City Care Center in Clara City.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 2001 at 1:30 P.M. at Saron Lutheran Church.  Rev. Steve Rheingans will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 3-5:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services on Friday.

Leona Clara (Charlet) Knoshal was born on September 6, 1911 in Bouton, IA to Edward and Clara (Snide) Charlet.  The family moved to the Maynard, MN area in 1920 and she graduated from Maynard High School in 1930.  She received a teacher’s certificate for elementary education from St. Cloud State Teachers College and taught rural schools for several years near Maynard.  On December 17, 1936 she was united in marriage to Orval Peterson. Following his death in 1962, she was united in marriage to Alvin Knoshal on May 11, 1973.  He preceded her in death in 1984.  She made her home in the Maynard area until moving to Montevideo in 1984 She has been a resident of the Clara City Care center for the past year.

Leona is survived by one sister, Helen Hagen of Granite Falls, MN; one sister-in-law: Lucille Charlet of Dundee, IL; two step-children: Gary Knoshal and his wife Audrey of Baraboo, WI and Rebecca Stivland and her husband Dale of Lowry, MN; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Orval Peterson and Alvin Knoshal; two brothers: Marion and Levern Charlet; one sister-in-law, Lucille Charlet; and one brother-in-law, Bennett Hagen.
