Leonard Anderson, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, June 9, 2002 at his home at the age of 87. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at 1:30 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Wayne D. Kopitzke officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening, with the family from 6 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Leonard Franklin Anderson was born on November 18, 1914 in Sparta Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Gustaf and Clara (Tweter) Anderson. He was baptized on December 12, 1914 and confirmed on September 15, 1929 at Strombeck Lutheran Church. He attended school at District #16 in Sparta township. On October 20, 1940 he was united in marriage to Edna Belsaas at St. Petri Lutheran Church. They farmed in Sparta Township until retiring in 1976. They moved into Montevideo in 1996. He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and softball.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; Sons Ron Anderson and his wife Sue Ann of Union, MI; and Doug Anderson and his wife Nancy of Minnetonka, MN; daughters: Laurie Anderson and partner Cathie Goodman of Berthoud, CO; and Sandy Davis and her husband Dan of Ft. Collins, CO; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Elmer, Randy and Gordon Anderson and by sisters: Ella Peterson, Ruth Sunde; Agnes Solseth; Hilda Bakke; Velma Gullickson and Myrtle Ludtke.
