Leonard Jorgenson, 88, of Montevideo, died Sunday, August 5, 2001 at his home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Warren Broughton will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Leonard Ruben Jorgenson was born October 10, 1912 in Big Bend Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of Joe and Hannah (Norby) Jorgenson. He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and he attended rural schools. Leonard was united in marriage with Elenora Thompson April 20, 1935 at the Big Bend Parsonage. He was a farmer in Big Bend Township and began his own well drilling business in the early 1950's. They moved into Montevideo in 1956 where he continued his well drilling business until retiring. Leonard was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Watson Lions Club and he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, reading, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Elenora; three children: Valgene and his wife Sandra of Montevideo, MN, Larry and his wife Joanne of Montevideo, MN, and Janet Olson and her fiancé August Van De Wiele of Marshall, MN; nine grandchildren: Steven, John, Brian and Colin Jorgenson, Richard Olson, Stacy Keller, Jody Jorgenson, Kristi and Amy Olson; seven great-grandchildren: Nicole and Bekki Jorgenson, Joshua and Patric Keller, Spencer and Paige Jorgenson, and Nicolas Olson and one brother, Ray of Milan, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers: Earl, Sibert, and Harold; and two sisters: Alpha Beaston and Doris Beaudoin.
