Leone Pedersen, of Mesa, AZ and formerly of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the Melody Care Home in Apache Junction, AZ at the age of 88.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, April 15, 2005 at the Velda Rose Methodist Church in Mesa, AZ. Committal services will be conducted on Friday, May 6, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo with Rev. Paul Woolverton officiating.
Leone Mildred (Pittenger) Pedersen was born on March 2, 1917 in Brookings, SD to William and Gertrude Pittenger. She grew up, attended school and worked as a secretary in Brookings before being united in marriage to Douglas G. Pedersen on March 15, 1938. They lived in Montevideo, where she was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. After her husband retired from Pedersen Brothers Construction Co, they moved to Park Rapids and also Rogers resort on Red Lake, spending winters in Mesa, AZ. Following her husband’s death in 1988, she moved to Mesa, AZ fulltime. She was a member of the Velde Rose Methodist Church in Mesa. She enjoyed golf, fishing and reading.
She is survived by two sons: Michael Pedersen of Apache Junction, AZ and Joseph Pedersen and his wife JoAnne of Murdock, MN; 2 grandchildren: Douglas Pedersen & Nicole Pedersen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Douglas in 1988; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
