LeRoy Johnson, of rural DeGraff, Mn., died on Saturday February 25, 1995 at the Chippewa Co. - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 69. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday February 28, 1995 at 1:00 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City, Mn. with Rev. Martin Lucin officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening , with the family from 7 - 8 P.M. and with a prayer service at 8 PM, all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, as well as for an hour prior to services at the church.
LeRoy Elvis Johnson was born on April 22, 1925 in Leenthrop Township of Chippewa Co., Minnesota to Roy and Inez (Larson) Johnson. He grew up in Leenthrop Township and attended rural schools. He served in the US Navy from 1946 - 1948 and served submarine duty. He was united in marriage to Ruth Lietz on Feb. 24, 1952 at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Grace in Chippewa Co., Minnesota. He has farmed for many years in Louriston Twp. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City and VFW Post #3871 of Granite Falls.
He is survived by his wife - Ruth; by a daughter - Debra and her husband Kevin Foley of Willmar, Mn.; by sons - Brad and his wife Linda Maus of Montevideo; Bruce and his wife Gail of Montevideo; and Bryan and his wife Judy of Glenwood Springs, CO; 12 grandchildren; by his mother - Inez Johnson of Montevideo; and by a sister - Betty and her husband Vincent Siverhus of Maynard, Mn.
He was preceded in death by his father, and by a sister - Rosemary.
