Lester Wold

August 24, 1915 — December 3, 2000

Lester Wold was born in Boyd, MN, on August 24, 1915, to Christ and Helma (Anderson) Wold.  He was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd and attended Boyd Public Schools.  Lester and Grace Kirkeby were united in marriage in Clarkfield and lived in Montevideo.  To this union, son, Lester Elroy was born.  Lester worked with his dad, Christ, as a plasterer and continued this profession all his working life.  After he retired, he moved to Lewiston, ID, where he and Althea (Femrite) Johnson were married on February 25, 1967.  They lived in Idaho for 23 years before moving to Starbuck, MN,  in 1987, and in the spring of 2000, they moved to Copper Glen Apartments in Montevideo.
Lester died suddenly on Sunday, December 3, 2000, at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 85.
Lester was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Althea; son, Elroy of CA; stepchildren, Merril Johnson of Dawson, Darrel Johnson of CA, and Arlys (Don) Roberts, AZ; brothers and sisters, Clarence of St. Cloud, Eunice Kirkeby of Marshall, Norman (Elaine) of Glenwood, Ruth (Donald) Bolm of WA, and Ruby Wood of TN; granddaughter, Michelle Wold; sister-in-law, Mildred Wold of Minneapolis; step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Harry and Ralph; sister, Mary Saltness; sisters-in-law, Dorinda and Adeline Wold; and brothers-in-law, Norman Saltness, Lloyd Kirkeby, and Roy Wood.
