Lexy Croom died on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at her home in rural Montevideo after a courageous twenty-one month battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 63. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5-7:00 PM and with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Lexy Ann (McNichols) Croom was born on December 23, 1948 in Huron, SD to Dale and Mavis (Nesson) McNichols. In 1955 she moved with her family to Morris, MN, where she attended Morris Public Schools and graduated from Morris High School in 1967. She graduated from the Practical Nursing Program in Fergus Falls, MN. On May 27, 1972, Lexy was united in marriage to Jon Croom at the Federated Church in Morris, MN. A few years after they married, they decided to begin farming, and made their family home in rural Montevideo. Lexy was a member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church, serving in several capacities throughout the years including Sunday School Teacher and financial secretary of the congregation. She worked at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo for nearly thirty-two years. She enjoyed working with the residents and staff and her job meant a great deal to her. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting, helping others and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Jon; three children: Sheri (and Eddie) Arndorfer of Willmar, MN, Dave (and Anne) Croom of Minnetonka, MN and Denise Croom of Willmar, MN; five grandchildren: Dylan and Kylie Arndorfer and Catie, Elle and Jackson Croom; two brothers: Larry (Margie) McNichols of Elk River, MN and Jim McNichols of Princeton, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
