Lila (Christenson) Strand

Lila Strand, of rural Milan, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Appleton Care Center at the age of 107.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  Rev. Kristine Isder will officiate and interment will be in Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.

Lila Harriet (Christenson) Strand was born March 12, 1912 at Milan, MN the daughter of Ludvig and Helen (Johanson) Christenson.  Her mother died at an early age and Lila began helping raise her siblings when she was a teenager.  She was united in marriage with Henry Strand September 24, 1936 at the Grace Lutheran Church Parsonage in Watertown, SD.  The moved to the family farm where she helped with many aspects of farming.  She loved chickens, gardening, and her flowers.  She was active at Kviteseid Lutheran Church and participated in Circle.  After Henry died in 1993, she continued to live on the farm.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, John; a brother, Ralph Christenson; and two sisters: Evelyn Latzke and Elsie Christenson.
