Lillian Folkestad, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, April 1, 1999 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 92.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 5, 1999 at 1:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. David Hoyme officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon and evening beginning at 4:00 PM and with the family from 6 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Lillian Christine (Rousu) Folkestad was born on June 6, 1906 in Buhl, MN to William and Susie (Meyer) Rousu. She grew up in the Buhl area and was confirmed April 9, 1922. Lillian was united in marriage with John Folkestad June 4, 1924 in Wadena, MN. They moved to Montevideo, where she was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and it’s circles and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past several years.
She is survived by two daughters: Donna Rasmussen of Montevideo, MN and Delores Fechter and her husband Ken of Salt Lake City, UT; one son, Raymond Folkestad and his wife Adeline of Williston, ND;16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one daughter-in-law, Lorraine Folkestad of Montevideo, MN; two sisters: Ruth Nienow of South Carolina and Violet Felling of St. Paul, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1981; one son, Gordon in 1994; one son-in-law, Ted Rasmussen; one granddaughter, Bonnie Folkestad; six brothers: Robert, William, Nels, Rueben, Calvin and Rufus Rousu; and three sisters: Sophie Marek, Ester Monjeau, and Rachel Reimann.
