Lillian Gjerset died December 21, 2010 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo, MN at the age of 92. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Watson Luthran Church with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening with the family present from 4-6 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Lillian Inga (Hoaas) Gjerset was born on October 10, 1918 in Chippewa County, MN to Ole and Clara (Struxness) Hoaas. She was baptized on November 10, 1918 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Watson, confirmed on October 2, 1932 at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan and attended rural schools. On October 27, 1938, she was united in marriage to Oscar Gjerset in Milan at the Kviteseid Lutheran Church parsonage. They farmed near Big Bend until retiring in 1966 and moving into Montevideo. She lived for a number of years at Brookside Manor and has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home since 2008. She was an active member of Watson Lutheran Church, including ladies aid and choir as well as being active in the Sons of Norway and the Senior Citizens Center. Lilian liked to crochet, making afghans for children and all grandchildren, quilting, loved to bake and especially loved to make lefse. Lillian is survived by two children: Richard (and Verna) Gjerset of Renville, MN and Joan (Dennis) Cushman of Montevideo; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; two brothers: Oscar Hoaas of Montevideo and John Hoaas of St. Cloud, MN; five sisters: Della Schneider and Helen Rear of Montevideo, Gladys Wagner of Superior, WI, Florence Barnes of Edina, MN and Olga Torgerson of Bagley, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar in 1983; a grandson, Rick Cushman; three sisters: Alice Molden and Clarice Harlow and an infant sister, Grace.
