Lillian (Zuehlke) Ladwig

April 20, 1918 — November 19, 2013

Lillian Ladwig, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 95.  Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to services on Saturday.  Arrangements are with Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Lillian Louise (Zuehlke) Ladwig was born on April 20, 1918 in Grant Co. near Revillo, SD to Carl and Anna (Reetz) Zuehlke. She was baptized on June 23, 1918, confirmed on May 21, 1933 and attended rural school.  On April 8, 1938 she was united in marriage to Orval Ladwig in Watertown, SD.  They lived in Marietta, MN for a short time before moving to Montevideo in 1942. Lillian worked as a homemaker ant at various jobs until they opened their own business and she worked as the secretary and bookkeeper.  She was a lifetime member of the DAV and VFW Auxiliary.  Lillian kept a daily diary and kept in touch with family and friends through letter writing.  She loved having company, was always looking for a good card game enjoyed camping and liked square dancing. .
She is survived by six children: LaVonne Barron and her husband Mervin of Montevideo, MN,  Jeannie Beveridge and her husband Jerry of Mankato, MN, Ronald Ladwig and special friend Phyllis of Montevideo, MN, Lou Ann Streich and her husband Lloyd of Granite Falls, MN, Linda Wittrock and her husband Bruce of Marshall, MN and Alan Ladwig and his special friend Doris Loe of Montevideo, MN; a daughter-in-law, Diane Ladwig of Rochester, MN; 13 grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin (and Deanna) Zuehlke of Sioux Falls, SD; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Orval in 2005; a son, Gerald Ladwig; a grandson, Lenny Barron; a great-great-grandson, Timothy Barber;  a brother, Ernest Zuehlke; a sister, Mable Mogard and her husband Orville; and a brother, Harvin in infancy.
