Linda Irene Nelson was born October 27, 1944, to Harold and Margaret (Oman) Nelson at the Dawson Hospital in Dawson, MN. She was baptized on November 27, 1949, at the Riverside Lutheran Church of Dawson and confirmed May 10, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, MN. She graduated from the Boyd High School. On August 23, 1963, she was united in marriage to Curtis Harberts at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd. To this marriage 4 children were born: James Curtis, Julie May, Jerald Dean, and Jolene Kay. They lived in communities of Boyd and Dawson. Linda will be remembered as a very loving mother and grandmother. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, reading, sewing, collecting owl figurines and wind chimes. Linda enjoyed the changing of seasons and took many drives around Lac Qui Parle lake to enjoy that time of year. She loved animals, especially her dog, “Paco”. Until a short time ago she worked as a sales clerk at Nicky’s Grocery in Dawson. She truly enjoyed the many customers who would come in daily to visit.
Linda entered the Johnson Memorial Hospital on Friday, November 19, 1999, and passed away on Saturday, November 27, 1999, at the age of 55.
She is survived by her children; James Harberts of Dawson, Julie (Dave) Michaels of Dawson, Jerald Harberts of Maplewood, MN, and Jolene (David) Skordahl of Woodbury, MN; two grandchildren, Matthew John Harberts and Alisha Margaret Harberts; brother, Stanley (Carolyn) Nelson of Dawson; special friends, Wally and Ellen Buhr of Dawson; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Pat Nelson.
