Linda died on Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN, at the age of 60. Funeral service was at 11:00 AM, Thursday, Oct 12, at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home with Pastor Kendall Stelter officiating; grandson, Nolan Miller read the poem "I Am Free" and gave personal memories of Grandma Linda; and a recording of "Nothing to Prove" was played. David Retrum, Scott Retrum, Mike Retrum, Mark Retrum, Roger Thompson, Brian Thompson, Larry Chavez and Byron Fields were casketbearers. Interment was in the Dawson Cemetery. Visitation was at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Memorial preferred to the Arthritis Foundation or Dawson Cemetery Association. Linda Lee (Fields) Retrum was born on January 25, 1949, in Luverne, MN, the daughter of Irven (John) and Adeline Fields. She attended school in Dawson, MN. She was united in marriage with James Retrum on July 5, 1968, in Rapid City, SD. They were blessed with two children: James, Jr. and Timothy. Linda and her family lived in Blaine, MN, where she worked several years at Montgomery Ward, before retiring in 1990. After retiring, Linda loved spending time with her golden retrievers. Linda cherished life and spending time with her family. She treasured having holiday gatherings with family and friends. Her love of decorating kept her and her husband, Jim, busy with home improvement projects. She is survived by her husband, James of Blaine, MN; two sons, James, Jr. (Marni) Retrum of Oak Grove, MN and Timothy (Danette) Retrum of East Bethel, MN; six grandchildren: Nolan and Nicole Miller, Caitlin Retrum, Megan, Abby, and Gretchen Strauss and one more expected grandson, Benjamin Lee Retrum; one brother, Daryl (Jean) Fields of New Hope, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Irven John(3/23/1990) and Adeline Fields(6/2/2008); her sister, Debra Chavez(11/25/1990); and her brother, David Fields(1/19/2004).
