Lloyd E. Hanson

Lloyd E. Hanson was born on May 6, 1912, in Lac Qui Parle Township, rural Dawson, to Hans B. and Anna (Adamson) Hanson.  He was baptized in 1912, and confirmed in 1926, at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church.  He attended country school in District #4 and Lutheran Normal School in Madison.
On November 17, 1945, he was united in marriage to Lauraine Anderson at the Dawson Covenant Church.  To this union, 3 sons were born: Lynn, Keith, and Harold.  They lived and farmed the home farm in Lac Qui Parle Township until they moved into Dawson in 1990.  Besides farming, Lloyd sold Funk's G Seed Corn for 25 years.  He also served on the Johnson Memorial Hospital Board, District #4 School Board, and Lac Qui Parle Township Board and other organizations.  Except for 6 years as a member of Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson, he was a life-time member of the Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church, serving on the Church Council several times.  He loved wood working and spending time in his shop.  After his retirement, they spent 16 winters in Leesburg, FL.  For about 5 months in 1998, he was a resident of the Johnson Memorial Home.
Lloyd died on Monday, December 13, 1999, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital at the age of 87.
He is survived by his wife, Lauraine; sons: Lynn (Claudine) of Poynette, WI, Keith of Dawson, and Harold of Lincoln, IL; 2 grandsons: David (Randi) Hanson and Daniel Hanson; sister, Ella Strom of Dawson; 2 sisters-in-law: Grace Hanson of Madison and Delilah Hanson of Portland, OR; other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: Bert, Arnold, Rudolph, Harold Bardolph, and two in infancy; three sisters: Alma Hanson, Hilda Tullgren, and Lillian Rodelius; two nephews, James and Mark Rodelius; one great-niece, Susan Crago; one great-nephew, Chris Boyum; three brothers-in-law: Raymond B. Strom, Lester Tullgren, and Nimrod Rodelius; and two sisters-in-law: Geraldine Hanson and Lorena Hanson.
