Lloyd Kleven, of Milan, died on September 2, 2000 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 77.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 7, 2000 at 11:00 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 9 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Lloyd Oliver Kleven was born on August 6, 1923 in Kragero Township of Chippewa County, MN to Selmer and Signe (Wenskaug) Kleven.  He was baptized and confirmed at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN.   He attended Milan Public Schools and graduated from Milan High School in 1941.   He served in the US Army from May of 1946 through December of 1947.  He attended Bryant College in Providence, RI, graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance.  During his early careen, Lloyd worked at Peoples State Bank in Milan, MN,  Marquette National Bank in Minneapolis, MN and Citizens State Bank in St. Louis Park, MN.  He returned to Milan in 1964 to work as a self-employed accountant.  In 1969 Lloyd became Milan’s Clerk/Treasurer and held that position for 28 years until retiring on December 31, 1997.  Lloyd was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN and served as church treasurer for 16 years.  He was an active member of American Legion Post #359 and the Milan Lions Club.  In 1997 Lloyd received the William C. Thompson, Jr. Citizenship Award for his contribution to the betterment of Milan.  He has been a resident of the Clara City Care Center since May of 1999.

Lloyd is survived by one brother, Ronald Kleven and his wife Phyllis of Springfield, MN; two sisters-in-law: Gloria Kleven of Montevideo, MN and Barbara Meyer of Madison, MN; one nephew, Scott Kleven and his wife Gail of Eagan, MN; eleven nieces: Nancy Jacobs of Big Bend, MN, Tamara Jessen and her husband Ron of Apple Valley, MN, Dawn Stover and her husband Lance of Eden Prairie, MN, Julie Torgeson and her husband Lonnie of Waconia, MN, Angela Kleven of Northfield, MN, Rebecca Donner and her husband Paul of Lakeville, MN, Kari McKeown and her husband Paul of Chanhassen, MN, Kriste Erickson and her husband Jeff of Milan, MN, Beth Collins and her husband Dan of Elk River, MN, Karen Cherry and her husband Matt of Sammamish, WA, and Amanda Kleven of Woodbury, MN; as well as by numerous great nieces and nephews and a great-great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Vernon S Kleven and Kenneth L. Kleven; as well as by twin nephews.
