Formerly of rural Maynard

Lloyd Menking, formerly of rural Maynard, passed away January 11, 2021.  He was surrounded by family and love at the age of 93.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.  Arrangements with Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Lloyd Glenn Menking was born March 15, 1927 the son of Trena (Buhr) Menking and Carl Menking.  He was baptized and confirmed at Clara City Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Lloyd grew up on a farm in Chippewa County, graduating from Maynard High School and joined the Navy during World War II.  He married his high school sweetheart, Corrine (Knudson) on February 14, 1950.  The couple made their home on a farm in rural Maynard where they raised their three children; Charles, Tamara and Tonya.  They lived on their family farm for 61 years and moved to Willmar in 2012.  Subsequently, in 2016 they moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota.

Lloyd was a devoted husband, father, World War II veteran, farmer, hunting guide and basketball coach.  Throughout their seven decades of marriage, Lloyd and Corrine could often be found at one of the numerous lakes in Minnesota - fishing, playing card games along with water skiing and boating.  After retirement, Lloyd enjoyed many travels and spending time with family and friends.

Lloyd is survived by his son; Charles Menking of Puerto Penasco, Mexico; daughter, Tamara (Steven) Beckius of Eagan, MN; daughter, Tonya (Randall) Larsen of Austin, TX; sister-in-law Gerry (Ronald) Quast of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren Mitchell (Becky) Haug, Lucas (Allie) Haug, Kameron Geiger and Karley (Ryan) Townsend; great-grandchildren; Brooklyn Menking and baby-girl Haug.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine; parents Trena and Carl Menking; grandson, Blake; brother, Francis Menking.
