Lois Dyshaw of Montevideo died on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Copper Glen Assisted Living in Montevideo at the age of 93.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00Am on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 6 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Lois Carolyn (Lund) Dyshaw was born on December 20, 1931, in Yellow Medicine County, the daughter of Melvin and Agnes (Kittelson) Lund. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Lois attended District #16 Yellow Medicine School near Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1949. After graduation, she worked at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office in Montevideo.
On June 15, 1952, Lois was united in marriage to John Alvin Dyshaw, Jr. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Together, they had three children: Bradley John, Gary Dean, and Lori Ann. John and Lois raised their family on a farm near Maynard, later moving to the Dyshaw farm northwest of Montevideo in 1968.
Lois had many interests, including gardening, sewing, quilting, knitting, baking, oil painting, and making note cards. She was especially well known for her gourmet chocolate turtles. Lois was very active in her church, teaching both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, creating monthly bulletin boards, quilting, mentoring confirmation students, and being a faithful member of the Rhoda Circle.
In addition to her church involvement, Lois participated in various community organizations, including the Sons of Norway, the Historical Society, the Maynard Birthday Club, the Good Neighbor Homemaker Group, and she served as a 4-H leader.
Lois will be deeply missed by her children: Brad (Sue) Dyshaw, Montevideo, Gary (Sue) Dyshaw, Minnetrista, Lori (Doug) Rynda, Elk River; grandchildren: Nicole (Simon) Bauer, Samantha (Mike) Scheffler, Cody (Alissa) Dyshaw, Nicholas (Melissa) Dyshaw, Brittany (Andy) Stewart, Lindsay (Brandon) Pakola, Daniel Rynda; 17 great-grandchildren: Roman, Katie, Guy, Max, Tory, Dalton, Taryn, Luke, Lane, Cole, Colin, Laken, Lennox, Juliet, Zoey, Bennett, Nora; sister-in-law, Janice Lund, Montevideo; nieces and nephews: Ron Jerve, Bruce Jerve, Dave Jerve, Joann Kolstad, Kathy Lindemann, Terri Vien, Michael Lund as well as extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of nearly 65 years, John; sister Arlene Jerve; brother-in-law, Marvin Jerve; brother, Jerry Lund; daughter-in-law, Glory Dyshaw; niece, Susan Lund; father and mother-in-law, John Sr. and Alvina Dyshaw.
