Lois Hein died Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 85.
Memorial services will be held on July 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Pastor Sam Kautz will officiating. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Cemetery earlier this year.
Lois Margaret Hein was born on July 23, 1935 in Leon, Iowa to Ivan and Henrietta (Wieneke) Burnison. She grew up in Winona and Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1953. She then attended Mankato State and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1957. She was united in marriage to Keith Hein at the Methodist Church in Fairmont on July 28, 1957. They lived in Marshall, MN for a short period of time and then moved to Montevideo. They have three children: Kevin, Mark, and Tom. Lois was a substitute teacher in Montevideo for over 35 years.
Lois was very active in the United Methodist Church in Montevideo. She also was involved in many activities including therapy dog, circle sentencing and politics. She was an excellent cook and baker and took pride in her creations. She loved cross stitch and counter cross stitch and created beautiful projects including Christmas stockings for the entire family.
Lois loved to travel with family and friends. In later years she looked forward to spending time in Mazatlan, MX. Lois and Keith enjoyed spending time at their lake place on Long Lake near Park Rapids, MN. She loved all flowers, feeding and watching the birds, golfing in her younger days and fishing. Lois also was excellent at entertaining. Holidays were a very special time for the family. She would prepare wonderful meals with lots of cookies and treats. At the top of Lois’ list were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will forever cherish the many memories that they had with her.
Lois is survived by her husband, Keith: sons: Kevin (Teresa Krohn), Montevideo, Mark (Sue Boettcher), Montevideo, Tom (Barbara), White Bear Lake; ten grandchildren: Owen Hein, Emily (Peter) Bankole, Hannah Hein, Christopher (Delphine) Hein, Celine (Oscar Morales) Hein, Carson Hein, Tarah Lee, Leah (Nik) Lines, Aimee Hein, Jack Hein; five great grandchildren: Olivia, Josiah, Thibault, Victor, Arthur; and brother: Robert Burnison, Surprise, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Ruth Schuder; and daughter-in-law, Renae Hein.
