Lois Morton, formerly of Montevideo, died on Monday October 7, 1996 in Ashby, MN at the age of 81.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday October 11, 1996 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Lois Elizabeth (Scharf) Morton was born on February 6, 1915 in Rosewood Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Frank and Alvena (Nicolai) Scharf. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1933. She was united in marriage to Arthur Morton on April 1, 1934 at the Our Savior's Lutheran parsonage in Montevideo. They lived in Montevideo for about five years, followed by four years in Minneapolis and another four years in Montevideo. In 1952 they again moved to the Minneapolis area, living there for about 15 years before moving to Battle Lake, MN in 1967. After seven years they returned to Montevideo for five years before returning to Battle Lake in 1979, where she has lived since.
She is survived by five daughters - Chloe Culkin of Mt. Holly, NJ; Shirley Sonntag of Sonoma Valley, CA; Ruth Benson of Ashby, MN; Audrey Carriere of New Orleans, LA; and Mary Jennings of New Orleans, LA; six sons - Ronald Morton of Los Angeles, CA; Michael Morton of Naples, FL; Dennis Morton of St. Louis Park, MN; Wallace Morton of Fergus Falls, MN; Steven Morton of Los Angeles, CA; and Jeffrey Morton of Battle Lake, MN; 26 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a sister - Evelyn Conrad of Montevideo, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Arthur in 1992; by a sister - Ruth Rosen; and by brothers - Wallace Scharf, George Scharf and Everett Scharf.
