Lois (Teig) Nordby died Friday, January 31, 2025 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 74.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Michelle Rowell officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the service.

Lois Christine (Teig) Nordby was born in Windom, MN on April 4, 1950 to Kermit and Dorothy (Birkland) Teig. She spent her early years on a farm near Lakefield, MN where she was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The family moved to Montevideo, MN in 1959 where she was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School.

Lois suffered from a virulent form of lupus all her adult life but did not let that define who she was. She genuinely cared about others in her life. She was funny, quick-witted, determined and loving. The pain she lived with made her thankful for each day. Her mantra was “every day I wake up is another day God has given me so I better make the best of it.”

For Lois, family was very important. She loved spending time with her aunts, uncles and cousins. Lois adored her nieces Heather, Holly and Amanda and they adored her. Lois’ time at Luther Haven was special to her. Lois never knew a stranger; she was always interested in other people and their families. When a caregiver came into her room, Lois always asked about their family. She celebrated their family's accomplishments and sorrows. She loved the residents and they enjoyed her company. We are grateful for the care that she was given.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Gerald and Diane Teig and Philip and Janell Teig; her nieces: Heather Teig, Holly Epstein and Amanda Salotti; her grandnephews: Zachary, Benjamin and Samuel Epstein: and numerous cousins and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents.

Please make any donations in her memory to the Lupus Foundation of America.
