Lola Kranz, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, January 29, 2006 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 78.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 3, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tim Ehling officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Lola Mae (Groothuis) Kranz was born on August 5, 1927 in Clara City, MN to William and Marie (Uttermark) Groothuis. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City and attended rural schools. On November 20, 1949 she was united in marriage to Russell Kranz at Immanuel Lutheran. They made their family home on a farm in rural Montevideo, where Lola spent her days as a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her home, children and grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was involved in circle. Lola’s greatest joys came from spending time with her beloved husband, sisters & brothers, children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching them grow and play and talking about them at every opportunity.
She is survived by her husband, Russell; four children: Jim Kranz and his wife Arlene of Montevideo, Larry Kranz and his wife Barb of Milan, MN, Kathy Arneson and her husband Ron of Montevideo, and Debra Kranz of Faribault, MN; ten grandchildren: Kyle (and Angie) Kranz, Chad (and Lynn) Kranz, Kari (and Scott) Olson, Paul Pudlitzke, Michelle Kranz, Stephen (and Lydia) Kranz, Cory Kranz and his fiancé Melissa Kleindl, Todd Kranz, Amy (and Chad) McArdle and Andrea (and Dan) Mills; twelve great-grandchildren: Scott, Markus, Jenna, Lindsay, Kasey, Hayden, Ella, Noah, Braden, Mason, Kyley and Carly; four sisters: Eleanor Staggar of Clara City, MN, Eddie Kuehl of Moorhead, MN, Arlene Bussian of West Salem, WI and Carol Groothuis of Golden Valley, MN; two bothers: Leo Groothuis of Fargo, ND and Bob (and Joann) Groothuis of Golden Valley, MN; as well as by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Lyle Groothuis; and three sisters: Phyllis Kranz, Julene Howard, and Mary Kawell.
